Clothing

Relaxing on the top deckPeople invariably pack far more clothes than they need. In the hotter months you will be rarely out of swimmers, or a pair of comfortable old shorts. We would suggest clothing for the day that you won’t mind if it gets wet, ends up with bait on it, gets covered with spatter from the bar-b-que or ends up stiff with salt.

A clean set of clothes for dinner is nice if you are that way inclined. Be sure to take footwear that has a robust sole and can get constantly wet for walking around reefs, pulling the dinghy onto the beach ect. The clogs that are so popular today are absolutely ideal, in fact many old salts are giving their deck shoes a miss in favour of these.

For shore dress, “smart tropical” is the go. A pair of nice shorts, shirt and casual shoes will see you off in 90% of the resorts. Remember there is an iron on board so you don’t have to bring a lot of changes.

Hats are essential. Remember it can be windy so it must be something that will stay on. A brim is better than a baseball cap.  Sunglasses are essential and it is mandatory that at least one person on board has Polaroid lenses. These allow you to see coral and reefs through the water. Essential for entering inlets and bays and great in any event for really appreciating the water.

Linen and Towels and Things

All linen and towels are supplied including bath mats, hand towels and tea towels. You should bring a beach towel each.

Snorkelling gear is provided free of charge, please ensure you try fins on before you leave to make sure everybody has a set that fit. If they don’t our manager will go buy you a set that does.

Diving gear must be hired and a current certification is required. Reef Magic is the only bareboat in the Whitsundays with dive bottle racks below deck.

Food and Stuff

Whitsunday ProvisioningOf course all food and beverage is to be supplied by the charterer. You may either order from our providores, Whitsunday Provisioning or do your own shopping. The providores are highly recommended, particularly if there are less than twenty person/days as they provide packages that prevent a lot of wastage. Remember a bottle of Tom sauce or 500grams of sugar go a looong way.

You should buy toilet rolls, paper towels and such. There are basic house cleaning products on the boat so don’t worry about that and there will be dishwashing products supplied for the dishwasher.

There is plenty of refrigeration and freezer capacity on board Reef Magic, the most of any bareboat in the area. There is also a massive amount of room below decks to store bags, garbage and extra booze.
